This is an emission nebula, in Sagittarius,
also called the Horseshoe, Swan, or Lobster Nebula.
Image of M17 obtained
through a C9,25 on Pixcel 237 CCD and Meade 4000 Focal Reducer at f3,3. Exposure
was 21x30 second for luminance component, 15x30 second for red and green and
18x30 second for blue component. North is up.

My first M17 image
obtained through a C8, exposed 15 minutes on Fujicolor superia 800 and manual
guided through a Celestron Radial Guider.
